55 in 52: 5 weeks, 6 pounds

Well, I guess I embarrassed myself enough with my last post that I might as well dispense with the rest of my dignity and blog about my weight, too!

Actually, I've just been thinking that I need to add some accountability to my weight loss plan, so I'm going to start doing weekly weigh-ins here. You guys can be my own personal weight watchers group. Except I won't make you tell me how much you weigh every week. Hopefully this will give me an extra little bit of motivation, knowing that I'll have to publicly fess up at the end of each week if I blow it.

So the big goal here is to get down to my ideal weight by the end of the deployment. So that gives me a total of 52 weeks (uh, give or take several) to lose 55 pounds. So I just need to lose about a pound a week to stay on track and be the hottest Tim has ever seen me when he gets home!

Things have been going pretty well so far. I can get free child care for Forrest when I go to the gym (not sure yet what I'll do once Clara's out of school--she's too old for gym care, but I'll figure something out), so I've been going 3-4 times a week since Tim left. I've discovered that I really enjoy doing the classes, Step is my favorite. I was actually really bummed that I had to skip the gym this week with the kids being sick. I really look forward to "my" classes (now that I'm not tripping over the step as much). Anyway, I've also been tracking my calories online and I am already seeing noticeable (well, to me anyway) results.

So here are the stats:
Starting weight (yes, I am actually publishing this for the whole entire world to see): 185
Goal weight: 130
Today's weight: 179
Lost so far: 6 lbs. :)

I was hoping for a more dramatic drop initially, but I'm right on track so far so I won't complain. Just gotta keep it up!

Feel free to keep tabs on my progress, offer advice and encouragement (please!), get on my case if I skip a weigh-in, JOIN ME, or just ignore these posts if they're too boring.

55 in 52! Hooah!

You ROCK! What a fun goal and yes, I know you can do it! I love being accountable to someone and this is a great way. Congrats on the 6, seriously awesome and yes, a noticble difference always comes with 5 and 10 lb increments. YEAH YOU!!!

That's actually awesome. You are right on target. I've been so .... AAAAAAAAARGGGGGGHHHHHH! lately that I've let work get in the way of getting to the gym. And I eat terrible because I hate planning. So already you are winning by not doing that. Are kids allowed in the classes? Maybe Clara would have fun on a step right next to you. Or if not ... hmmm. Well. I'm sure you'll figure something out. GOOD LUCK! I've hovered at 17something for months and months and months now. We won't even mention all the money spent on the trainer. :[

you can do it Amy! It is something you have to keep working on everyday, but if you stay focused, you can be a smoking hot beast when Tim gets home! Remember to eat lots of fruits and veggies and try not to have food in the house that you will binge on. I know I can't say no if it is in the house, so I don't have things like that in my house. Makes the journey much easier! Good luck babe!

PS Runner's World and Active.com both have email newsletters that actually suggest some great new fitness plans/exercise or stretching videos, and motivational thoughts. As for the eating part ... still working on that. But just like the previous comment said. Don't have it in the house. I get stuff on the way home from work when I'm starving thinking I will exhibit some self control and then eat it all in like two days.

Making friends with food. I just had Pop Tarts for breakfast. :X Don't follow that example. They weren't even the good s'mores ones. Yucky brown sugar/cinnamon.

Hey! The gym is my outlet. It's a HUGE stress reliever for me. Not only is it time away from the kids, but I feel so proud of myself after accomplishing something at the gym.

That being said, after I have a baby, I love to train for something. That way, I have something to work for. AND, if I ever want to shorten my workout, I know it'll hurt me come race day. I'm not saying you need to train for a marathon, but even just a simple 5k or something gives me a lot of motivation! Also, having a gym buddy helps a lot!

Congrats on the weight loss!!!! I started my weight loss in Jan of this year and so far have lost 58 lbs. I know you can do it. Yes you have less to lose than I do so it will be harder but it sounds like you have the determination. One site that has been really big for me is sparkpeople.com. It's free, they set you up with a cal/fat/carb/protein range, they help you track you food, and it's a great support group. My name on there is Kaurakitten if you decide to join. Livestrong is another website that really helps.
